Answers to the most common configuration, hardware, and network management questions.
By factory default, MicroBT WhatsMiner ASICs use admin for both the username and password. If the tool reports an "Auth Error", someone has changed the web interface password. You will need to hard-reset the miner via the control board button if the password is lost.
WhatsMiner Tool is natively compiled for Windows (7, 10, 11). However, Linux and Mac users can run it successfully using Wine or virtualization software like VirtualBox or Parallels Desktop with a bridged network adapter.
Check the following:
1. Your PC and miners must be on the same subnet.
2. Ensure Windows Firewall or Antivirus is not blocking the tool's broadcast packets.
3. Verify that the IP range in the "Miner IP" tab matches your router's DHCP range.
WhatsMiner Tool supports official .bin files provided by MicroBT. Do not try to upload .zip or .tgz files directly; ensure you extract the firmware package first if it was downloaded as an archive.
The tool is designed for industrial scale. You can scan and monitor thousands of units simultaneously. However, for batch firmware updates, it is recommended to process them in groups of 50-100 to avoid excessive network congestion.
This typically indicates that the tool can ping the miner, but the API is not responding. This can happen if the miner is still booting up, if the API has been disabled in the settings, or if the control board is frozen and requires a reboot.
For security reasons, it is not recommended to open your ASIC ports to the public internet. Instead, use a VPN (like WireGuard or OpenVPN) to connect to your farm's local network, and then run the WhatsMiner Tool as if you were on-site.
Select your miners in the list, go to the "Power Mode" or "Work Mode" settings in the toolbar, select your desired profile (Normal, Low Power, or High Performance), and click "Save". The miners will restart to apply the new frequency settings.
Mining management software often uses network scanning techniques (ARP/UDP broadcasting) that are similar to how some network tools behave. As long as you download the tool from official sources, these are "false positives". Add the tool to your antivirus exclusions list.
The tool does not have an "Auto-Update" feature for security. Simply download the new version from this site, extract it to a new folder, and run the new executable. Your saved IP ranges can usually be exported and imported via the .conf files in the program directory.
